SERIES COLOR PALETTE: Browns, Beiges & Blue

I think lately I have developed a crush for browns, beiges & blues together… That is certainly a warm and some kind of moody palette; combined with layers of objects, rich textures, antique finishes bring a style that is totally inviting and casual sophisticated.

{INSPIRATION IMAGE}. I know... I know... You are probably saying... "what is this picture to do with the rest of the rooms?!" "How about the Browns, Beiges and Blue?!" I would say that some rooms would not connect with it that much, but some of them: "Yes"!
{Ah, look at the black in the background as some kind of deep intense navy blue!} My lately obsession with deep intense navy blue is making me to see back as blue! That's obsession, you know...!

Photo: Christina Murphy Interiors' website - Well, the cabinets seem to have been painted in black... But I almost see deep blue in some parts... As I said my obsession with deep blue is making me to have delirious...

TRADITIONAL MEETS CONTEMPORARY IN SPAIN. OLE!

I’ve always been a big fan of Flamenco Dance… Yesterday while watching the local news I saw an advertisement about a Spanish group who is performing in the city... Siudy Between Worlds. That didn't just call my attention to go watch the show, but it also pulled my attention to search more about Spanish culture and design. I see a strong drama in Spanish culture… a great  passion and “fuerza” in combination with sensuality and romance. I define it as intricate and sharp. I so much want to find more about this culture…
For now, we can enjoy the vibrant energy produced by the sounds and movements of this dance group that we can see in the videos created by Siudy Between Worlds.

In my opinion, El Palauet Hotel, in Barcelona, is another expression of drama and “good taste” of the Spanish people. The Art Nouveau meets the “new world”… as a perfect marriage. The design of the hotel makes me think of a gorgeous Spanish bride!

Have you ever watched the show Between Worlds?
Have you ever stayed in El Palauet Hotel?
I would love to hear about your experience of the Spanish world!

THE COLOR OF LOVE

I have mixed feelings about the color red… sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it! I don’t understand why I have such opposing feelings about one particular color…?! There are some colors that I don’t like at all, and others that I love… But, red.  I am about to start a residential project; a laundry/bathroom where the client wants red color there… I actually already picked some materials for that. They are looking good together… We are thinking about pops of red; and the red that I have for one of the materials is a really beautiful bright tomato red. I like that shade of red... Anyway, enough of this psychological drama with the color of red!

I want share with you what I have found recently… I was researching on the Internet the street fashion of Paris… I found out that the red has been a “key color” to the dark mood of the winter clothes. It's probably a trend that is over already, considering the fact that spring is already in Europe this time of the year. I do really love all these outfits that these women are wearing though…

I am also searching for spaces that were designed with the use of red… I am trying to learn about the color that aggravates me... and be sure that the red color can create exciting rooms, vibrant spots, be trendy and literally “hot”!

TIP: one of the ways to find an idea for your interior design projects is to find something that you like...a fashion line for example.  Then from style, color and general idea, you design your space.

Would you like to leave a comment?

ON THE WAY... IN THE WAY OF TUSCANY

I am writing today the post from last week… Somehow I could not find time last week to write my weekly post!  …Somehow I couldn’t do it on the weekend either! Anyway, the idea for this post came on Friday night after finishing my “Movie Friday Night Session” with Mike. We watched “Love on a Pillow”; where Genevieve (Brigitte Bardot) suffers at the side of a man (Robert Hossein) whom she saved him from overdosing on drugs as he heaps abuse on her in every way imaginable. You are probably thinking... "What is Tuscany to do with this down story?".  Well, the story starts in Paris, then move to a small town in France, go back to Paris; and then ends in Tuscany/Italy. The set design in Paris is so 60s, and it’s interesting… (It’s not my style), but I kind of like it somehow… I would never design a real apartment like that, but I like it for the movie.  It's theatrical, and it’s perfectly designed for the French love drama for that time. However, the set design and scenery really got my attention when the story moves to Tuscany. In Tuscany the architecture, the landscape, the atmosphere, and the “gold orange” light of Tuscany’s sunset totally seduce me...  transporting my soul to Tuscany.

If you are interested in watching the movie Love on a Pillow...

I have been in Florence once, but not in the countryside of that area… I remember visiting a palace museum: Palazzo Pitti; and from the gardens of this impressive house I could see a little bit of the surroundings of Florence. That portion of the view made me wanted more of the countryside… Unfortunately, I was leaving next day to Rome. Oh, it was shame that I could not visit and enjoy that beauty that was so close to me, and far at the same time! I left Florence with this feeling that I would have to come back one day; and really explore that part of the world where life must be more laid back, romantic and pure inspiration!

If you plan to visit or live for a little while in Tuscany I got beautiful villas for you to stay...
