Exploring pure art + digital art

Hi Everybody!! I have been all over lately... trying to handled between my clients interior projects, looking for new ones, my Revit training, my country house hunting, my art & photography development, my house, my cat, my husband, my friends & family, etc, etc!!! OH! OH! OH! I've been trying to catch the wind! Have you ever tried to catch the wind? Anyway... TIME. TIME. TIME. It's flying and feels like I going against it. OK. I am here today because I want share some work that my friend Simone Alexandrino and I have started exploring a while ago... I was organizing my art & photography folders and I found that material there. Hum... I thought: this is interesting! Did I ever had share it in my blog? Maybe... I don't remember. I did not even check if i did share already. But anyway, I would like to ask your opinion about it. My friend Simone is an artist. She creates beautiful and intricate drawings using her own intuition and her black ink + white special paper. We were trying to combine that pure hand made art with digital art. The idea was to mix the two medias and come up with something abstract, pop and minimal.

ASIAN STYLE

I have been so intensely busy this week… between finishing my hubby and my summer trip plans to China, preparing to host my dear mom, trying to make a business project  happen, finishing my internship… between the normal stuff of every day! I feel so bad that I’ve been displacing my blog… I haven’t been on time with it! My goal is one post per week! But the week has been passing by so fast! I can’t keep up!!! I need some “Zen style” to slow me down and relax me…! It’s the Asian Style: a minimal, clean, contemporary style. What I like about the “Asian Style” is the fact that is simple and open! It could be a little cold and lack charm, but it’s very practical. This week what I did need the most it was practicality. I think life can be so much less complicated if we live in more open spaces, with less things…! What do you think?

A TRIBUTE TO JAPAN - Design & Culture

I feel really sorry for what had happened and still happening in Japan… According to recent news the water have finally been retreated and people are coming back to their homes. I just can image how devastated they would fell coming home and seen all destroyed and lost. I mean, they are already desvasted from the moment that the earthquake and tsunami had hit the land.  I don’t think I could take all that!
But in this post I don’t want talk about the sadness that is going on in Japan… That’s something for the news. I want remind myself and you about all the beautiful, fun, creative, trendy, inspiriting things from Japan and produced in Japan. Hopefully this post can inspire you... and you might fell like contributing somehow to help this country and their people during this giant crises that they dealing with. PEACE for JAPAN!

In progress still... I've so busy this last week and this weekend that I couldn't post my regular post... I am trying today... But it seem that I am not going able to finish it today... I too tired! I have to go to bed... Sorry... zzzzzzzzzz... I sleeping on my laptop!

A MINIMALISTIC TERRACE IN MANHATTAN IS BEING BORN…

Last summer {2009} I started working on an outdoor/terrace project that has passed through so many phases and difficulties… When I started it I was still working with my associate and friend Whitney Smith {who I want give a lot of credit for her initial design ideas}… Whitney has been gone for a while {she has moved, got a new job and now she’s been following her own path}; another summer came and now it’s gone… That was a project that took a while to be approved by the board! Actually that was the main reason why it took so long… We had to hire an architect and he had hard time with the board too. They {the building board} really tried everything to make us to give up our design ideas!  Well, I believe that’s their job! It’s OK. And our job: as clients, designers, architects and contractors is to insist and insist. Finally we got what we wanted!  Now the construction phase is over. My fabulous client was very helpful and patient; and now we just started purchasing the furnishings and accessories… The space is looking beautiful and we are so excited!

I am so proud what this outdoor space is turning out to be!  I would love to share that with you! It’s not done yet, because like I said, we have just start buying the furniture & accessories. Although I can’t resist to share the results of the first phase with you!

BEFORE...

BEFORE...
DEMOLITION...
DEMOLITION...

PROCESS... Installing flooring.

PROCESS... Installing flooring and wood fence.

Guess who can't wait for this city backyard/terrace to be done?!
AFTER...
It's almost done... if the rain lets us finish it!

This is the furniture & accessories we are planning
 to fill the space with.
Do you like it?

THE PLANTS ARRIVE TODAY (10/21/2010)!!!!

The terrace is gaining LIFE!!!  In all ways!!!  We (my client and I) were so excited!  We are very happy with the results! Ah, and the custom made bench and the fountain's platform  are there too!  They came yesterday...  I was literally jumping up and down today when I saw them!  Don't they look beautiful?!
TIP: Always get a good carpenter... ;-)

Here 'our' Sky Pencil plants!

The last plant...!  It took about 5 hours to delivery and install those plants...!

This project has been a personal victory, not just an exterior design project!
